Carbon Trust has presented the case study for the Array Technology Innovation Programme (ATIP) aimed at achieving cost and risk reduction associated with marine energy arrays.
The ATIP was part of the Marine Renewable Commercialisation Fund (MRCF), which was established by the Scottish Government and managed by the Carbon Trust, to accelerate the deployment of commercial-scale wave and tidal energy arrays in Scottish waters.
In February 2014, a total of £2.8 million was awarded across five projects which were selected through a competitive application process.
The successful projects shared a proportion of the fund to undertake critically needed industry studies or to design, build and prove a range of novel technologies, which would help reduce the cost of early array deployments for wave and tidal technologies.
