Norwegian shipowner Siem Offshore has terminated the charter party for the offshore subsea construction vessel (OSCV) Siem Spearfish, due to non-performance of the charterer’s obligation, the company said on Monday.
The 120-meter Spearfish was launched in 2014 after being designed and built at the Vard facility in Norway. The vessel joined Harkand’s fleet with aim to help boost its services in the deep water Gulf of Mexico.
Following the financial crash of Harkand Group, that saw four charter deals terminated and over 170 jobs lost, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the newbuild DP3 dive support vessel the Harkand Haldane, which was scheduled for delivery in Q2 2016.
Vard said that if Harkand unlawfully terminates the shipbuilding contract it will contractually be entitled to retain the advance payments already received and to resell the vessel.
Bibby Offshore has won two contracts with a multi-million pound combined value.
The first contract win is a DSV IRM campaign at two unnamed fields in the UKCS, Northern North Sea. The scope of work includes performing barrier testing, reconfiguring flexible pipelines, installing a new production spool and commissioning.
Technip has been awarded an engineering services contract by Woodside to provide multi-disciplinary engineering services.
This contract covers all Woodside operated onshore, offshore and subsea producing assets, the company informed. Under the agreement, Technip and Genesis, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, will provide a comprehensive suite of engineering services.
FMC Technologies has appointed Douglas J. Pferdehirt as president and chief executive officer of FMC Technologies, effective September 1, 2016.
Pferdehirt will succeed John T. Gremp who will continue to serve as chairman of the board of directors while the company completes its transition to the new CEO. Gremp, 64, has served as CEO of FMC Technologies since 2011, having been with the company for 41 years.
