Russian Sovcomflot and the South Korean Shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering have delayed the delivery of the first Arc7 ice-class Arctic LNG carrier.
According to a filing to the Korean stock exchange on Friday, DSME informed the delivery of the first 172,600 cbm Arctic LNG carrier ordered by Sovcomflot Group to transport the chilled fuel from the Novatek-operated Yamal LNG project in Russia will be delayed to January 31, 2017.
The initial delivery date of the vessel launched in January this year was June 30. No details have been disclosed on the reasons of the delay.
According to DSME, the contracted price for the LNG tanker was around KRW 340 billion.
The vessel is a prototype for a series of 16 Arctic LNG carriers, and will be the first to load at the liquefaction and export plant in Port of Sabetta (Ob Bay, Kara Sea), currently under construction.
Once completed, the vessel will be operated under a long-term time charter agreement between Sovcomflot and Yamal LNG.
