Polish Swinoujscie LNG terminal is set to receive its first commercial cargo on June 17 from Qatar, with the second one to follow on June 25 from Norway, according to Polish Gas and Oil Company (PGNiG).
The first cargo will be delivered aboard the 210,000 cbm Al Nuaman LNG carrier under a 20-year contract PGNiG has with Qatargas, the Polish company said in its statement.
The second cargo was booked through a recently closed tender seeking spot cargoes and will be delivered by Statoil from its Hammerfest LNG facility on Melkoya island aboard the 147,980 cbm Arctic Princess.
Due to an earlier start-up at the Swinoujscie LNG terminal, the first cargo from Qatar has been brought forward to June 17 from mid-July, PGNiG said. The second cargo under the 1 mtpa LNG contract is expected around mid-July.
There are more deliveries to follow during July as the company is still accepting offers for the second part of its tender looking for further four spot cargoes. The bids for the second part of the tender will be accepted until June 17, PGNiG said.
Świnoujście LNG terminal is Poland’s flagship project to diversify gas supplies and reduce dependence on pipeline imports from Russia.
The LNG terminal has since December last year received two cargoes from Qatar for testing purposes onboard the Q-flex Al Nuaman.
The facility consists of a 3-km long breakwater, a jetty that will be able to unload carriers with the capacity ranging from 120,000 to 217,000 cbm, two 160,000 cbm LNG storage tanks, regasification facilities and an 85-km pipeline connecting the facility with the Polish gas grid.
