Woodside, along with its partner Petrel Resources, has received environmental approvals from the Department of Communications, Climate Change, and Natural Resources for 3D seismic acquisition in Porcupine Basin off Ireland.

The acquisition, awarded to PGS by Woodside, will include the 3D surveys over Granuaile and Bréanann prospects.

PGS’ Ramform Vanguard vessel will conduct the surveys, and it’s currently mobilizing for the Granuaile survey in the Southern Porcupine Basin, about 150 km south-west off the Cork coast.

According to Petrel, the Bréanann shoot, covering, inter alia, Woodside-operated frontier exploration licence 3/14 will start in about 40 days. Petrel has a 15% carried interest in the licence.

David Horgan , Petrel director, said: “The objective is to de-risk several leads and prospects to drillable status. The partners have succeeded in securing excellent contractors and equipment to conduct this work in the ideal weather window.”
