Canada’s Environment Minister, Catherine McKenna, announced yesterday the establishment of a three-member Review Panel that will conduct the environmental assessment of Port Metro Vancouver’s proposed Roberts Bank Terminal 2 project.

Ms. Jocelyne Beaudet has been appointed as the Chair of the Review Panel. Dr. Diana Valiela and Dr. David Levy have been appointed as members of the Review Panel.

Under the Terms of Reference , the Review Panel will conduct an assessment of the environmental effects of the project, consider mitigation measures, determine whether the project is likely to cause significant adverse effects, and identify any follow-up programs required.

The Review Panel will also consider comments from the public and Indigenous groups that are received during the assessment.

The Port Metro Vancouver proposes the construction and operation of a new three-berth marine container terminal located at Roberts Bank in Delta, British Columbia, approximately 35 km south of Vancouver.

The proposed project, to be located next to the existing Deltaport and Westshore Terminals, would provide an additional 2.4 million twenty-foot equivalent units of container capacity per year at Roberts Bank.
