KIC InnoEnergy has reopened Innovation Proposals 2016 call aimed at European businesses looking to commercialize their product or service in the sustainable energy sector.

This second phase of the call, starting from June 1, seeks start-ups, SMEs or larger, who already have innovative sustainable energy projects at the research and development stage – but who need help in getting their product to market.

The call is looking for applications relating to innovations in KIC InnoEnergy’s eight thematic fields, including those of renewable energy, energy storage, energy efficiency, amongst others.

The initial 2016 call, which closed in April, received over 500 registrations of interest from innovators across Europe.

The second phase will run until October 11, 2016, after which the most promising projects will be invited to present their concepts to KIC InnoEnergy’s Assessment Committees.

Diego Pavia , Chief Executive Officer of KIC InnoEnergy, said: “By reopening the call, we hope to receive even more applications from those who either missed out on the previous deadline or who are applying for the first time.

“The energy sector is undergoing unprecedented change and facing significant challenges. If we are to reduce emissions, while ensuring a sustainable and affordable energy future, innovation will be a critical factor in our success. Our job is to help unlock that innovation, to nurture it and, crucially, get it to market.”

The successful applicants will be announced on December 19, 2016.

KIC InnoEnergy, branch of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, is dedicated to promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and education in the sustainable energy field.
