Scotrenewables Tidal Power’s SR2000 floating tidal turbine has started its journey to Scotland from the Belfast Lough.
The world’s largest floating tidal turbine has been undergoing trials at the Belfast Lough, Northern Ireland, for the past two weeks.
After the conclusion of the trials, the turbine began its journey to Scotland today, Belfast Harbour said on social media.
It will be towed to the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney to commence a grid connected test programme.
The 550 tonne SR2000 tidal turbine consisting of a 64 m floating hull that incorporates two 1 MW rotors mounted on retractable legs was launched at Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast last month.
