Seadrill, an offshore deepwater drilling contractor, has reached a safety milestone offshore Congo.
Seadrill stated via social media on Monday that its jack-up rig the West Ariel has marked its eighth straight year without lost time injury (LTI).
The KFELS ‘B’ class, independent jack-up rig, was built in Singapore in 2008 by Keppel FELS Shipyard.
The West Ariel rig is currently under contract with the Italian oil company Eni in the Republic of Congo on a $130.000 dayrate.
After the current contract ends in August 2016, the rig will continue to work with Eni, but on an increased dayrate.
Namely, according to Seadrill’s fleet status report, the next contract, also in Congo, starts in August on a dayrate of $155.000. This second deal will see the rig work for Eni until February 2019.
