Windwave Workboats has sent its 18-metre Wind Farm Support Vessel (WFSV) Freddie S to Grimsby to start a new role providing 24-hour jack-up support for Siemens Wind Power Service on the Westermost Rough wind farm.

Freddie S will be supporting a team of Siemens’ heavy lift technicians who are working on the Sea Challenger jack-up.

The Westermost Rough wind farm has 35 Siemens SWT-6.0-154 6MW wind turbines installed and is located 8 kilometres off the Yorkshire Coast, north of Hull, covering a total area of 35km2. The wind farm was inaugurated in July 2015.

The contract is a double first for Windwave, working on the Westermost Rough wind farm and on a site with 6MW turbines.

Westermost Rough is a joint venture between DONG Energy (50%), Marubeni Corporation (25%) and the UK Green Investment Bank (25%). The wind farm is operated by DONG Energy.
