Seatricity has repaired the damage on the moorings on the Oceanus 2 system, and is continuing with the device trials at Wave Hub.
Seatricity informed that the damage was caused by the inadvertent close passage of a vessel over the loose down-tide upper positional tethers which float on, or near the surface.
With the assistance of local Falmouth-based marine operations partners Seawide Services and Keynmor Morlift, the damage has been repaired and recurrence prevented, according to the company.
Seatricity has calibrated sensors, tested the hydraulic system’s capacity to hold pressure, and is conducting optimization of valve settings to maximise power output in a range of conditions.
The trials are now moving towards a phase of deliberate testing to measure, evaluate, corroborate and analyse various elements of the system.
Seatricity plans to perform minor tweaks to the positional moorings to optimise and limit any lateral movement of the buoy over its reactive tether in the relatively strong tidal streams that run across the site, the company informed.
As reported earlier, the 162 kW Oceanus 2 device was deployed at Wave Hub in May.
