Hokkaido Electric Power has started constructing the fourth storage tank at the Ishikari LNG import terminal on Hokkaido, Japan’s second-largest island.
The storage tank has a capacity of 230,000 kiloliters (kl) and is expected to be completed in October 2020, Hokkaido Electric Power said in a statement on Tuesday.
The first and the second tank, with a capacity of 180,000kl each, are owned by Hokkaido Gas while Hokkaido Electric owns the third and the fourth LNG tank with a capacity of 230,000kl.
Currently, only the first LNG tank is in operation while the other tanks are still being built.
The Ishikari LNG terminal will provide fuel for a large-scale gas-fired power plant being constructed at Ishikari Bay New Port.
