Geneva-headquartered trader Vitol has reportedly won the tender for the first cargo loaded at the Angola LNG facility that has recently kicked back into production , following a two-year shutdown.
The cargo was loaded from the Chevron-led facility in early June aboard the Sonangol Sambizanga LNG carrier with the capacity of 161,000 cubic meters, Reuters reports, citing trade sources.
Responding to an email sent by LNG World News, seeking confirmation of the report, Vitol’s spokeswoman said the company does not comment on trading activity.
In an earlier statement, Angola LNG confirmed the first cargo was loaded at Soyo, northern Angola, in June, adding that the facility is expected to load further LNG and LPG cargoes as part of the commissioning and testing process.
The US$10 billion project will be handed over from the contractor Bechtel in due course, Angola LNG said.
Angola LNG is a joint venture between Sonangol (22.8%), Chevron (36.4%), BP (13.6%), Eni (13.6%), and Total (13.6%).
