The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, has awarded a $926,000 contract to dredge Oswego Harbor, NY, this summer.

The contract was awarded to Luedtke Engineering Company of Frankfort, MI, and includes dredging a total of 175.000 cubic yards of sediment from the federal navigation channel.

Dredging will be performed at the harbor mouth, in the outer harbor and within the western channel area.

“ The dredging of Oswego Harbor allows bulk commodities to pass through the harbor, supporting more than 24,000 jobs which generate over $2 billion in total annual business revenue, ” said LTC Adam Czekanski, USACE Buffalo District commander . “ The harbor is a major receiving port on Lake Ontario and part of the larger Great Lakes Navigation System. Proper maintenance of this system is critical to ensuring our Nation’s industrial strength. ”

Work on the project is expected to begin around June 27th with the completion set for late July.
