In two weeks’ time, the UK Marine Energy Conference will bring together those at the forefront of wave and tidal technology within the UK and Ireland to Glasgow.
The conference, which aims to accelerate marine energy as a viable energy alternative, will feautre an exhibition showcasing the latest technologies and solutions from across the marine energy sector.
Some of the companies that will be exhibiting include TBAT Innovation, UltraMAP, DHI Water Environments UK, IDCORE, and Centa Transmissions, amongst others.
The opening session will consider policy projections with a presentation from the Scottish Government, and marine planning and licensing from Ashfords LLP.
The conference will feature case studies on the UK’s latest projects from MeyGen, Minesto, OpenHydro and Marine Power Systems, as well as technology insights from Sustainable Marine Energy, FloWave and SmartBay Ireland.
The event also offers an opportunity to identify the key issues facing the industry and possible solutions, from marine robotics solutions by National Oceanography Centre and studies on community engagement strategies from the University of Edinburgh, to a hard-hitting industry analysis from Peter Fraenkel, Co-founder of Marine Current Turbines.
The one-day conference, to be held on July 5 at the Glasgow Marriott Hotel, will be hosted by industry experts, Gordon Dalton, Lead Co-ordinator of the Maribe H2020 Project, and Stephen Salter, Emeritus Professor of Engineering Design, University of Edinburgh.
As well as hosting the event with conference sponsors Ashfords LLP, and Natural Resources Wales, the UK Marine Energy Conference has been organized with the support from a number of leading industry and marine energy organisations, such as Energy at KTN, Energy Technologies Institute, IMarEST, Scottish Energy Association, Marine Energy Pembrokeshire, Community Energy Wales, Marine South East Limited, CASE, Maribe, and WavEC.
