Dredging and land reclamation operations at Thinadhoo are now wrapped up, according to the Maldives’ Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure.
Van Oord’s trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) HAM 318 started dredging and land reclamation program in the Thinadhoo area on June 1.
This scheme resulted in 55 hectares of new land and 1852 meters of breakwater.
Before the Thinadhoo work, the Van Oord’s dredger completed the Feydhoo scheme, which involved creation of 50 hectares of new land and the construction of a 1680 meter breakwater.
