ORE Catapult adds RenewableUK expertise

The Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult has appointed Hugh McNeal, the Chief Executive of the UK’s renewable energy trade association, RenewableUK, as a Non-Executive Director.

The Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult has appointed Hugh McNeal, the Chief Executive of the UK’s renewable energy trade association, RenewableUK, as a Non-Executive Director.

Appointed to his current CEO role in January this year, McNeal was previously a senior civil servant, most recently as Director of Change at the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), having held a number of other senior, low carbon related roles in both DECC and the Department and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

Hugh McNeal said: “I am extremely pleased to join ORE Catapult’s Board at a critical time in the development of the UK’s offshore wind, wave and tidal energy industries.

“The Catapult has a huge role to play in driving ever closer collaboration between government, industry and academia to ensure that we capture the full benefits from this vital sector.”

Colin Hood , Chairman of ORE Catapult, added: “Hugh is a very welcome addition to the Catapult’s Board, bringing extensive experience of renewable energy policy and working with industry to drive cost reduction, growth and economic benefit from the renewable energy sector.”
