European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) Human Activities team has released the updated dataset on ocean energy related projects and testing facilities in the European Union.

The updated dataset on ocean energy, available for viewing and free download, comprises ocean energy facilities, projects and test sites in the EU, with the respective location and distribution on a map, EMODnet informed.

The dataset contains point locations that represent sites where ocean energy projects have been realized, or currently are at different stage of development, and areas representing open sea testing facilities.

Clicking on an individual feature on the map will open a dialogue box with information about the project, including project/test site name, location, country, sea basin, resource type, starting year, ending year, as well as a link to the sources.

Data from the Central and Eastern Mediterranean Sea and from the Black Sea are currently not available through the dataset, EMODnet stated.

EMODnet is a consortium of organisations within Europe that assembles marine data, data products and metadata from diverse sources in a uniform way.
