Sustainable Marine Energy rocks EMEC
Sustainable Marine Energy (SME) has installed four subsea rock anchors in the challenging tidal flows of the Falls of Warness ahead of the deployment of its PLAT-O 1 tidal energy platform at the site. The anchors will be used to moor SME’s PLAT-O tidal energy platform which will be shortly deployed at EMEC.
French tidal firm to retrieve turbine early July
Sabella, a French tidal energy company, plans to retrieve its D10 tidal turbine early in July. The retrieval of the turbine will be made with the DP2 vessel Aker Wayfarer from the Norway-based provider of vessel services Akofs Offshore. The company has contracted Mojo Maritime to conduct the retrieval operation.
Minesto’s CEO: Brexit will not affect Wales tidal project
Following the outcome of the EU referendum in UK, where the majority of the British people voted for an exit from the EU, Minesto has issued the statement on the referendum outcome saying that it will not affect Minesto’s EU project to demonstrate the first full-scale device of its subsea tidal kite technology called Deep Green off the coast of Anglesey, which is now in the delivery phase.
OPT redeploys wave energy device off New Jersey
Ocean Power Technologies (OPT) has redeployed its wave energy device, the PB3-A1 PowerBuoy, off the coast of New Jersey. The device was deployed after the completion of necessary repairs and maintenance operations, and the integration of the NDBC’s SCOOP monitoring system, which collects site-specific data on meteorological and ocean conditions and is powered by the PB3 PowerBuoy.
Wave energy exploration begins off Mauritius
Wave monitoring device, aiming to explore the prospects of developing wave energy for the Republic of Mauritius and harness the potential of ocean energy, was deployed during a launching ceremony in Souillac. The initiative follows the collaborative agreement signed in June 2015 by the Mauritius Research Council (MRC) with Australian wave energy developer Carnegie Wave Energy.
