Barge Master, a Dutch motion compensation systems developer, said on Thursday that it is the first company to receive approval from DNV GL for a gangway system. Under DNV GL’s Standard for Certification, the system is also approved as a lifting appliance.
Rob Das , Service Responsible at DNV GL – Maritime, said: “We have been working with Barge Master on this project from the draft version of the new code until the DNVGL-ST-0358 was released and applied to their product. Their comments on our draft version during the external hearing process contributed to the further improvement of the standard.”

Barge Master said that Florian Teica and Zrinka Cizmek conducted the review as Approval Engineers at DNV GL.

DNV GL’s vision on safety has been well-matched and implemented in Barge Master’s design. The next step will be the full certification following design approval, manufacturing survey and testing.” said the Approval Engineers at DNV GL.
The Barge Master Gangway is a motion compensation system that enables transfer of personnel from a floating vessel to a fixed structure in waves up to 4.5m Hs. Several modules are available, ranging from a height adjustable pedestal to an integrated motion compensated lifting winch.
