United European Car Carriers (UECC) recently launched its second LNG-powered pure car and truck carrier, the TBN Auto Energy at the NACKS shipyard in Nantong, China.
The vessel is a part of a two LNG PCTCs contract UECC, the company owned jointly by Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and Wallenius Lines, signed with NACKS. The first vessel, the TBN Auto Eco was launched earlier this year.
Helen Olafsen , UECC’s head of trade and operation, said that both UECC’s vessels are largest LNG PCTCs in the world in the 1A super Finish/Swedish ice class.
The vessel has a capacity of approximately 3800 cars, including 6000 square meters of high and heavy cargo on 10 decks with a maximum cargo weight of 160 mt.
The TBN Auto Energy will take on sea and gas trials where its engines will run only on LNG, before the scheduled delivery to UECC on November 28, 2016, in Nantong, China.
