LNG engineer Laing O’Rourke said it won another contact with JKC for the Inpex-operated Ichthys LNG project’s onshore facilities in Darwin, valued at US$200 million.
Under the contract, Laing O’Rourke will deliver the miscellaneous civil finishing works at Bladin Point, the company’s statement reads.
“This is the third major package we have secured on this project,” Laing O’Rourke’s region director Stuart Crofts said.
In 2012 Laing O’Rourke was awarded the EPC contract to deliver a network of four massive cryogenic tanks and the $260 million contract to deliver the 3,500 bed Manigurr-ma Village in Howard Springs, Stuart added.
The company recently installed both LNG tank platforms in a consortium with Kawasaki Heavy Industries along with ALE Heavy Lift and Alliance Engineering Consultants.
The $34 billion Ichthys project with the capacity to produce 8.9 mtpa of LNG has postponed the production start-up until the third quarter of 2017.
The Ichthys project is a joint venture between Inpex, major partner Total, Taiwan’s CPC Corporation and the Australian subsidiaries of Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric, Chubu Electric Power and Toho Gas.
