James Fisher Marine Services will recommence subsea cable installation works using offshore construction vessel Aker Wayfarer at the Wave Hub offshore site in two days’ time.
Following the retrieval of Sabella’s D10 tidal energy turbine, which was completed today in Brest, France, Aker Wayfarer DP2 vessel from the Norway-based provider of vessel services Akofs Offshore, will be heading to Wave Hub test site off Cornwall, UK, to conduct scheduled cable laying operations.
Survey vessel MTS Xplorer will also support the works at Wave Hub test site which are expected to last from July 16 to August 8, 2016.
The planned works include the installation of 6km of cables, associated connectors, cable abrasion protection, rock bag cable stabilisation and survey.
The objective of this cable installation project is to extend the existing four short subsea cable tails out from within the charted Wave Hub Safety Zone to the four Wave Hub berths to enable connections for the developers that will be testing their wave energy devices at the site.
To remind, in May this year Wave Hub awarded a £2.8 million contract to James Fisher Marine Services for the installation of cable tail extensions at the test site.
