All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on marine energy and tidal lagoons has been set up to promote the potential of tidal and wave energy in UK.

The APPG on marine energy was launched by the Gloucester MP Richard Graham on July 14, 2016.

APPGs are informal cross-party groups that have no official status within Parliament. They are run by and for Members of the Commons and Lords, though many choose to involve individuals and organisations from outside Parliament in their administration and activities.

The APPG launch was sponsored by two major tidal energy players in UK – Tidal Lagoon Power, and Atlantis Resources.

Charles Hendry, head of the independent review of tidal lagoons commissioned by the UK government, was a guest speaker at the launch ceremony.
