Det norske has informed that the Ivar Aasen platform was lifted and installed in the North Sea, offshore Norway, on Monday, July 18, 2016.

The platform deck arrived in Norway earlier in July after a long journey from Singapore.

The Norwegian oil company informed through its social media channels on Tuesday that module M00 was lifted from Cosco’s heavy lift transport vessel, the Xiang Rui Kou, at 07:12 local time at a location 500m away from the jacket. To remind, the jacket for the Ivar Aasen platform was placed at its location in June last year.

Saipem’s semi-submersible crane vessel S7000 then traveled with the module suspended from the crane hooks into position at the south side of the jacket and lowered the module into position. M00 was in its final set-down location on top of the jacket at 10:28. Det norske noted that this was a very ‘smooth’ operation with no clashes or damage.

The Ivar Aasen field is Det norske’s first major development project as operator and the company’s partners in the project are Statoil, Bayergas Norge, Wintershall, VNG, Lundin and OMV. The production from the field is scheduled to start around December 1, 2016.
