Quadrant Energy, an independent oil and gas exploration company in Australia, is drilling ahead at its Roc-2 well, in the country’s North West Shelf.

To remind, the Roc-2 appraisal well was spudded on Saturday, July 9, 2016, with the aim to test the Roc gas-condensate discovery in the Caley section that Carnarvon announced on January 4 , 2016. Quadrant hopes to progress towards proving a volume above the minimum economic field size and to establish potential flow rates for future development planning.

According to an update on Tuesday by Carnarvon Petroleum, Quadrant’s partner in the field, the 26” (660 mm) hole has been drilled to around 1,275 meters measured depth and the 20” (510 mm) casing has been set and cemented in place.

The well has started drilling in the 17 ½” (445 mm). The rig is expected to take between 1 to 2 weeks to drill the 17 ½” (445 mm) hole down to a depth of approximately 3,500 meters measured depth before running the 13 5/8” (346 mm) intermediate casing.

No reservoir objectives are anticipated to be intersected in this hole section. The Roc-2 well is located within the WA-437-P exploration permit in the North West Shelf of Australia.
