DNV GL has independently reviewed and approved the latest version of Tekmar Energy’s patented TekLink Cable Protection System (CPS) and Bellmouth Accessories.

The approval from DNV-GL encompasses the full range of Tekmar’s patented TekLink CPS and Bellmouths for both ‘J-tube’ and ‘J-tube less’ applications. To date Tekmar, a cable protection systems specialist (CPS) for offshore wind farms, has supplied in excess of 4,500 cable protection systems on over 42 offshore wind farm projects.

Tekmar carries out ‘generational’ development programmes where knowledge and data is drawn from delivered projects and stakeholders in order to continually develop their offering, with their most recent programme reaching ‘7th generation.’

Within this 7th generation development programme, Tekmar engaged with DNV-GL to further establish its design & engineering standards adopted across its product offering.

Alongside this workstream, Tekmar also completed their ‘quick-connect’ Articulated Bend Restrictors offering accelerated assembly on the vessel during offshore installation, a new Cable Hang-Off assembly allowing time savings for both temporary and permanent works, full scale thermal testing demonstrating the CPS is not a limiting factor for cable output performance and their recently wet-trailed Monopile ROV Removal Tool for CPS decommissioning.

Receiving these new DNV-GL approvals establishes Tekmar Energy as the only current CPS provider to have a full suite of DNV-GL accreditation across its organisation including its Business Management System, Production & Projects Facilities, Engineering Analysis (Orcaflex), and design and testing of the CPS itself, the company said.

James Ritchie, CEO for Tekmar Energy, said: “Working with DNV-GL and receiving their endorsement demonstrates our commitment to the rigorous standards we adopt at Tekmar. Having recently established a new state of the art manufacturing facility, these certificates confirm why Tekmar Energy is the leading provider of CPS within the OWF market.”
