The University of Aberdeen is offering three new scholarships to students studying towards its masters in subsea engineering, thanks to contributions from two energy multinationals and a leading industry body.

The scholarships, which are available to UK and EU students, are being funded through contributions from Chevron, Subsea UK and Fugro.

Chevron is contributing approximately £19,000 towards a scholarship that will cover postgraduate tuition fees and provide a maintenance stipend. Meanwhile, Subsea UK and Fugro will provide £8,000 and £6,000 respectively towards tuition fees and maintenance costs.

The scholarships are open to UK and EU students with an offer to study the MSc in subsea engineering starting in September 2016. The entry requirements for admission are at least a 2:1 UK Honours degree in Engineering or an equivalent award from non-UK institution.

Professor Ekaterina Pavlovskaia , director for postgraduate teaching in the university’s school of engineering, said: “These scholarships offer a fantastic opportunity to anyone interested in a career in subsea engineering, and we are grateful to our industrial partners for the funding that they have provided.

“Our renowned subsea engineering programme benefits from input from our industrial partners, ensuring that graduates develop job-ready skills that allow them to hit the ground running in the workplace.”
