The European Commission, through its Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, launched today a call for a two-stage project proposals submission aimed at developing the next generation renewable electricity technologies.
Under this competitive low-carbon energy call , EC is looking for proposals from the following topics to address several aspects of renewable and low carbon energy generation challenges:
EC noted that the proposals in these topics will be assessed in a two-stage submission process. The applicants must submit a ‘short outline proposal’ for the first stage until November 29, 2016.
The applicants whose proposals pass the first-stage evaluation will be invited to submit ‘full proposal’ for the second stage, with the deadline set for August 22, 2017.
The research under the ‘New knowledge and technologies’ topic is expected to move the new renewable energy technologies involved to TRL 4 and provide better scientific understanding and guidance enabling the players concerned to frame strategic choices regarding future energy technologies and to integrate them in the future energy system.
The second topic under this call includes ocean energy power generation technologies with the aim to increase performance and reliability of ocean energy subsystems, and to develop an advanced ocean energy subsystems including innovative power take-off systems and control strategies which would result in the decrease of the overall cost of ocean energy.
