LATVIJAS TILTI JSC and Klaipeda State Seaport Authority have signed a €11.73 million worth contract for the deepening of the Malku Bay.
According to the contractor, works on the project will begin in late August.
Under the agreement, LATVIJAS TILTI JSC will deepen the Malku Bay to a depth of 14.5m, removing some 27,670m³ of dredged material from the bay floor.
Construction works also include the 1020m long shoreline slope reinforcement with the use of a underwater sheet-pile wall and the 82.2m long shore reinforcement with a reinforced concrete superstructure.
Because the object is located in the Malku Bay, close to the botanical conservation area, construction works will be mainly executed from water, with the help of floating structures and divers.
LATVIJAS TILTI JSC has already implemented numerous significant projects in the Port of Klaipeda. For example, Klaipeda passenger and cargo terminal, which is the largest terminal in Lithuania and is equipped with unique automated Ro-Ro ramps for vessel servicing as well as reconstruction of berths No. 7 and No. 8.
At the moment, reconstruction of berths No. 101–104 is in progress with berth No. 66 restoration works half way through.
