Colombo Dockyard PLC has just announced that DEME Group’s self-propelled cutter suction dredger Ambiorix called in for layup and drydock repairs during May – June 2016.
“One of the biggest CSDs in the DEME fleet selected Colombo as the repair center for its special survey requirements, ” Colombo Dockyard said in its announcement.
The major repair scope during this call consisted of cutter shield repairs; precession welding was carried out on the cutter shield base plate using wear resistant welding electrodes.
Cutter ladder internal blasting and painting was carried out, while cutter ladder internal brackets were renewed and cracks were repaired.
Side wire tumbling sheave was overhauled and reconditioning, where precession required machining was carried out.
Routine drydock related repairs were also included.
The repairs were carried out meeting the BUREAU VERITAS class society requirements.
