GE Oil & Gas’ subsidiary has been awarded a field decommissioning contract offshore Indonesia.
The work, to be carried out by PT Vetcogray, a subsidiary of GE, will entail the provision of support the shut-down of four subsea wells in the Anoa field, offshore Indonesia. The field is operated by Premier Oil Indonesia, a subsidiary of the independent UK oil firm, Premier Oil.
According to GE Oil & Gas, the subsea trees at the field were among the first to be installed by GE in the Asia Pacific region in the 1990s.
Under the contract awarded, GE Oil & Gas will prepare the field’s subsea production trees for removal, supporting the removal of flowlines and production umbilicals, installation of intervention hot stab assemblies and provision of annulus and flowline flanges.
Once the wells have been made ready for decommissioning, the tree caps, subsea trees (XTs) and tubing hangers will be removed, cement plugs set and the seabed cleared to comply with local regulations.

Prior to starting the first phase of work, GE Oil & Gas will conduct interface testing with customer-supplied tooling and newly-manufactured tools, ensuring the trees are ROV-enabled for the wider decommissioning campaign, anticipated to begin in 2Q, 2017.
