San Diego-based shipbuilder General Dynamics NASSCO on Saturday, August 27, launched and christened the Constitution, an ECO Class LNG-ready tanker built for SEA-Vista.
The vessel is a 610-foot, 50,000 deadweight-ton, and LNG-conversion-ready product tanker with a 330,000 barrel cargo capacity, General Dynamics NASSCO said in its statement.
The Constitution was built for SEA-Vista, a partnership between SEACOR Holdings and Avista Capital Partners, and will be operated by Seabulk Tankers. It is the second vessel under a three-ship contract between NASSCO and SEA-Vista.
The vessel is built on a design by DSEC, a subsidiary of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) of Busan, South Korea. It will feature a G-series MAN ME slow-speed main engine and an optimized hull form.
NASSCO delivered the first vessel in the series, the Independence, in May, while the construction began on the third one in October 2015, with the keel being laid in May this year.
