Norsafe has signed a contract with Singapore-based drilling rig builder Sembcorp Marine to deliver freefall lifeboats and davit systems for and ‘FSO to be installed in the UK sector of the North Sea.’

While Norsafe does not reveal the name of the North Sea project, it is safe to say that the FSO is destined for Maersk Oil’s Culzean field in the North Sea, as Sembcorp is only involved in one UK North Sea FSO project.

Norsafe said on Tuesday it would deliver its UK HSE compliant Norsafe GES45 freefall lifeboats for the FSO being built by Sembcorp.

The company added that it has been a supplier to Sembcorp for years through projects for Atwood, Prosafe, PTTEP, Saudi Aramco, Seadrill, and Transocean. Installation of the lifeboats and davit systems will be supported by Norsafe Singapore located near the shipyard.

To remind, Sembmarine cut first steel for the FSO vessel meant for the Maersk Oil-operated Culzean development in the UK sector of the North Sea on July 22 .

The Maersk Culzean FSO will be deployed at the Culzean field approximately 145 miles (233 kilometers) off the coast of Aberdeen in a water depth of 295 feet (90 meters).

Japanese operator of offshore floating platforms, Modec, was awarded a contract by Maersk Oil to supply the FSO vessel for the Culzean development project in September 2015. Modec subsequently awarded a contract to Sembcorp Marine to design and build the FSO in November 2015.
