The TSHD “JUN YANG 1”, built Royal IHC in 2016 for Guangzhou Dredging Company (GDC), is currently on her maiden voyage from Kinderdijk, the Netherlands, to Guangzhou, China, taking the long way home via Cape Town.

The “Jun Yang 1” of 167.5 x 31.0 meters is propelled by two MAN type 9L48/60CR main engines, with a total of 21.600 kWatt / near 29.000 Bhp, operating on 380Cst HFO and attaining a max speed > 16 knots.

The vessel is being delivered to Guangzhou by a Redwise key crew of 5, together with 22 crewmembers of GDC, including all Officers and Engineers, using the delivery voyage for familiarization purposes.

This hopper dredger is the latest in a long list of dredgers delivered by Redwise on behalf of Royal IHC during the 110 years period.

Recent deliveries include: the “Chang Jiang Kou 1” of 132 meters, from Kinderdijk to Shanghai, the small grab hopper dredger “Italeni” of 59 meters from Varna to Durban and the self propelled CSD “Al Bahar / Huta 12” of 18.200 kWatt from Kinderdijk to newly constructed King Abdullah port, Saudi Arabia.

All three hopper dredger went around Cape of Good Hope to avoid any piracy risks and a SW monsoon season transit for the “Italeni”.
