SeaBird, the seismic data provider for oil and gas companies, has entered into a contract for the purchase of the vessel Hawk Explorer and its seismic equipment.
Under the purchase agreement, the Oslo-listed SeaBird said it will pay USD 1.1 million for the vessel and seismic equipment as well as the cancellation of all future lease payments and additional obligations as required under the charter agreement.
The 66 meters long 2D/source vessel, Hawk Explorer, has been in the SeaBird fleet since 2006.
In March this year, the company extended the lease on Hawk Explorer with option to purchase the vessel and related equipment at the end of the lease. The extension was from May 31, 2016 to February 28, 2017.
