Tidal Lagoon Power (TLP) is looking to identify the most appropriate method for fish tagging and tracking in the Severn Estuary as part of tidal lagoon project development.

TLP is tendering for the procurement of a scoping study and trials to inform the modelling and assessment of impacts on fish for Tidal Lagoon Cardiff, it is stated on the Welsh government’s procurement portal Sell2Wales.

The proposed lagoon, between Cardiff and Newport, is expected to have the capacity between 1.8 and 2.8GW, with the annual output of 4 to 6TW/h, powering approximately 1.5 million households in the UK.

Plans for Tidal Lagoon Cardiff include up to 90 turbines set within a 22 km breakwater that will enclose an area of around 70 km2 with an average tidal range of 9.21 m.

The deadline for sending completed tenders has been set for September 22, 2016.
