The construction of the floating platform that will be used to test in-river and ocean tidal devices at the SEENEOH test site has begun.

SEENEOH is collaborating with Cerenis Consulting & Engineering, Eviaa Marine, and GTM Sud-Ouest TPGC on the construction of the platform.

The works on the 50 tonne platform are expected to be completed by the end of November, with the deployment set for the end of December this year, according to Lilian Labit, SEENEOH Project Manager.

SEENEOH is a tidal testing site on the Garonne river, Bordeaux, France, that comprises three test berths, located at depths greater than 8 m, and designed to accommodate tidal devices with mounted or floating fixation type.

The test site is operated by Énergie de la Lune – an engineering firm specializing in marine renewable energy and ocean engineering, and it is expected to be fully operational in 2016.
