Gazprom has received the first permits for the TurkStream project from Turkish authorities following the decision to resume the project this year.
Namely, at last week’s negotiations between Alexey Miller, chairman of the Gazprom management committee, and Berat Albayrak, minister of energy and natural resources of Turkey, the parties reached the agreement to shortly complete all the required preparatory procedures for launching the TurkStream project.
“The issuance of first permits is good news for Gazprom. This move of the Turkish side reflects the interest of Turkey’s government in the TurkStream project and marks the transition to its practical implementation,” said Alexey Miller .
On December 1, 2014, Gazprom and Turkey’s Botas signed the memorandum of understanding on constructing the TurkStream gas pipeline. The offshore section of Turkish Stream was planned to consist of four strings, each with a throughput capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters. The gas pipeline will stretch for 660 kilometers within the existing corridor of South Stream and for 250 kilometers within a new corridor towards the European part of Turkey.
