Following the return of several rigs to the Gulf of Mexico, the U.S. offshore rig count climbed back up again last week, according to a weekly rig count reports by the oilfield services provider Baker Hughes.
To remind, the U.S. offshore rig count took a hit two weeks ago after the tropical storm Hermine forced some operators to move their rigs of the storm’s path in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
BHI Rig Count: U.S. +11 to 508 rigs
U.S. Rig Count is up 11 rigs from last week to 508, with oil rigs up 7 to 414, gas rigs up 4 to 92, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 2.
U.S. Rig Count is down 340 rigs from last year’s count of 848, with oil rigs down 238, gas rigs down 104, and miscellaneous rigs up 2.
The U.S. Offshore Rig Count is 18, up 8 rigs from last week, and down 13 rigs year over year.
BHI Rig Count: Canada -3 to 134 rigs
Canadian Rig Count is down 3 rigs from last week to 134, with oil rigs down 3 to 74, gas rigs down 1 to 59, and miscellaneous rigs up 1 to 1.
Canadian Rig Count is down 51 rigs from last year’s count of 185, with oil rigs up 4, gas rigs down 56, and miscellaneous rigs up 1.
