The Norwegian offshore safety watchdog, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA), has granted consent to the oil company Statoil to use the drilling rig Scarabeo 5 on the Snorre field, offshore Norway.
Statoil will use the semi-submersible drilling rig Scarabeo 5 for well intervention on the Snorre field, for well 34/7-A-10 H.
Snorre is an oilfield which lies in the North Sea, about 150 kilometers west of Floro. The field is redeveloped with two floating integrated installations Snorre A and B, and a subsea template tied back to Snorre A. Production on Snorre started in 1992.
According to the safety authority, the activity is scheduled to start in September and last for 22 days.
Owned by Saipem, the Scarabeo 5 is a semi-submersible drilling rig, built by Fincantieri in Genoa in 1990. The rig is registered in the Bahamas.
The rig received its Acknowledgement of Compliance from the PSA in May 2003.
