Russian energy firm Gazprom has received further permits for the construction of the TurkStream pipeline project.
Following last week’s reports of Gazprom obtaining first permits for the restart of works on the project, the company on Wednesday said it received further approvals. The latest approvals concern the construction of the TurkStream’s offshore section as part of the preparatory procedures for resuming the TurkStream project.
“I would like to commend our Turkish partners for being so prompt and cooperative at the first stage of the TurkStream project,” said Alexey Miller , Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee.
To remind, the project was stopped last year after Turkey shot down Russian warplane for violating its airspace. The plane had been on its way to a mission in Syria.
Once constructed, the pipeline will run 660 kilometers along the old route of South Stream and cover 250 kilometers of a new route toward the European part of Turkey. It is planned that the first gas pipeline string will be used exclusively for gas supplies to the Turkish market.
