Maersk Supply Service has been awarded a contract to provide decommissioning services for the Janice subsea field in the North Sea for Maersk Oil UK.

Maersk Supply Service will assume responsibility for engineering, project planning and managing the scope of the subsea decommissioning.

“With the award of the Janice contract we are able to demonstrate that, together with our project partners, we can offer an innovative approach that provides an end-to-end work scope to our customers. This is a prime example of Maersk Supply Service managing a service integration that reduces costs and complexities for the customer. We see good potential for this service in the decommissioning market,” says CEO Jørn Madsen .

The Janice project will employ up to 10 vessels, utilizing all three of the company’s asset types: Anchor Handler, Platform Supply and Subsea Support Vessels. To date, all anchor chains have been disconnected, the first risers have been recovered and removed and the tow-away of the floating production unit has been completed.

As lead contractor, Maersk Supply Service has brought in three sub-contractors to execute a carefully planned deconstruction of the Janice subsea facilities from start to finish. The project partners are supporting the engineering, ROV work, and waste management aspects of the project.

The project end date is estimated during summer of 2018
