James Ives, Chief Executive Officer of DCNS’ Irish-based subsidiary OpenHydro, is handing over the leadership of the company after 12 years in the role.
The news comes as OpenHydro transitions from technology development to industrial supply, and according to the statement issued by the company, Senior Vice President of Energies at DCNS, and Chairman of OpenHydro, Thierry Kalanquin will be Ives’ interim replacement.
James Ives , OpenHydro’s outgoing CEO, said: “In agreement with our Chairman, I believe that after nearly 12 years in the role now is the right moment to hand over the leadership of OpenHydro’s. I have no doubt that with DCNS’ support, OpenHydro will consolidate itself as the tidal energy market leader, establishing itself in new global markets and stepping-up to industrial scale supply.”
Thierry Kalanquin added: “As OpenHydro transitions to this new industrial phase we agree that now is the right time to handover to a new leader to support the next stage of development. OpenHydro is a central pillar in our strategy to establish ourselves as market leaders in marine renewable energy.
“DCNS is fully committed to our Irish operation and while we conduct our search for our new Chief Executive, I will take up the reins at OpenHydro on an interim basis.”
