University of Exeter’s College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences is looking to recruit a postdoctoral research fellow to support the research work related to offshore renewable energy sector.

The project will support a successful Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) proposal addressing extreme and fatigue loadings and probabilistic reliability assessment within offshore renewable energy.

The research spans wave, tidal, offshore wind and floating offshore wind energy technologies.

The post will include detailed calculation of the hydrodynamic loading on floating structures and their mooring systems, as well as a conceptual mathematical approach bringing together probabilistic reliability methods and state of the art mathematical modelling techniques to optimise design processes for offshore energy, according to the University.

The successful applicant will support the work of Professor Lars Johanning, while presenting information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants need to possess a relevant PhD and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes, the University informed.

The application closing date is set for October 19, 2016.
