India’s Dahej LNG terminal recently received a cargo from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass liquefied natural gas export facility in Louisiana, with another cargo on its way.
Teekay’s Oak Spirit, the company’s second MEGI LNG carrier, has already unloaded its cargo and departed the terminal on September 24, the AIS data provided by the vessel tracking website, MarineTraffic, shows.
This was the 173,000-cbm newbuild’s first cargo since it was delivered from the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in South Korea. The vessel is operating on a 5-year fee-based charter contract to Cheniere Energy, lifting volumes from the Sabine Pass LNG export facility.
The second cargo, due at Dahej LNG terminal on September 29, is being transported aboard the 173 400-cbm Ribera Del Duero Knutsen LNG carrier that departed Sabine Pass LNG facility on September 4, the data shows.
With the two latest deliveries, Sabine Pass facility will have shipped four cargoes to India.
Petronet LNG, India’s largest importer of liquefied natural gas, recently commissioned the regasification facilities under the Dahej LNG terminal’s expansion project which raises the terminal’s capacity from 10 mtpa to 15 mtpa.
It is expected that the remaining part of the expansion project, the two LNG storage tanks, will be completed by the end of October 2016.
