International Electrotechnical Commission’s (IEC) TC-114, a technical committee that develops and manages standards for the global marine hydrokinetics (MHK) industry, has published two new technical specifications for tidal and wave industries.
The project team 62600-102 has released the technical specification ‘Wave energy converter power performance assessment at a second location using measured assessment data’, which describes the required methods and conditions to determine the power performance of the wave energy converters at different scales and locations.
The second technical specification, 62600-2:2016 , provides the essential design requirements to ensure the engineering integrity of wave, tidal and other water current energy converters, referred to as marine energy converters, according to IEC TC-114.
IEC TC-114 is the committee that, since 2008, has been developing international technical specifications and standards for marine energy conversion systems. The primary focus is on conversion of wave, tidal and other water current energy into electrical energy, although other conversion methods, systems and products are included.
