Verdant Power has appointed John Banigan to the additional position of Chief Executive Officer.
Banigan has been part of the Verdant Power team for three years, serving as CFO, before also assuming the CEO position.
He succeeds David Sharpless, who served as interim CEO during the past three years, while also being a director of Verdant Power. Sharpless will continue to serve the corporation in that capacity, the company informed.
Banigan said: “Verdant Power is well positioned for its global launch and I am grateful to the company for the opportunity to lead it at this exciting time.”
Verdant Power is a New York-based developer of marine and hydrokinetic (MHK) technologies and projects, generating clean renewable energy from tidal and river currents.
The company has plans to develop tidal energy projects in Ireland and UK, having setup a joint venture Verdant Isles, with Irish company Belleville Duggan Renewables, to drive this initiative forward.
