The Norwegian Public Roads Administration, Western Region, has announced a pre-qualification for the construction of E39 Rogfast subsea tunnel in the Norwegian Sea.
The tunnel, with the length of approximately 25.5 km, starts in Harestad in Randaberg and ends at Arsvågen in Bokn. In addition to the main tunnel there will be an arm up to Kvitsøy with a length of approximately 4 km.
The assignment will include the construction of the tunnel part up to Kvitsøy and the middle section of the Boknafjord tunnel (E 39 Rogfast), approximately 8 km of two-lane marine tunnel.
In addition, the contract will include the construction of some 2 km of open air road and 5 minor bridges.
According to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, the E39 Rogfast will be the world’s longest and deepest subsea road-tunnel, with the deepest point of approximately 385 meters beneath the sea level.
The value of the project is between NOK 2.6 and NOK 3 billion. The construction of the tunnel is expected to start in 2017, and to be completed by September 2024.
The deadline for return of completed pre-qualifications is November 10, 2016.
