Swedish wave energy developer, CorPower Ocean, is looking for a Senior Operations Engineer who would take the leading role in the upcoming ocean testing activities of CorPower’s WEC in Orkney, Scotland.

The scope of work for CorPower’s new Senior Operations Engineer includes installation, retrieval and field testing of its wave energy converters set to take place from 2017 at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC).

The company is looking for a candidate with a relevant experience in marine operations and field testing of industrial machinery, whose job responsibilities as Senior Operations Engineer would also include coordination of CorPower’s activities in Orkney, day-to-day operations of the equipment, as well as first level debugging and tuning of the prototype equipment.

As reported earlier , CorPower’s half-scale device is currently undergoing dry-testing in Stockholm, which will be followed by the deployment at EMEC.

Corpower’s wave devices have power take-off (PTO) design that combines the high load capabilities from hydraulics with the efficiency of mechanical drive.

Its buoys oscillate in resonance with incoming waves, and by using the WaveSpring phase control technology which amplifies waves’ motion, the device significantly increases the power capture, which is then converted to electricity, according to CorPower Ocean.
